STRYPER IS COMING TO RALEIGH, NC...AND I SO WANNA GO. I missed Kiss in August. Because of the basic problem I had with seeing Kiss in Raleigh: I do not drive. If I were a girl, it'd probably be no problem lol.
Btw, Stryper is am early-to-mid 80s Christian hair metal group. I flirted with Christianity back then. My mom is a Pentecostal Christian. I am now, however, a pagan leaning atheist. Call me an agnostic pagan. But I still love Stryper's sound, if not so much their lyrics. But if you're expecting god this god that in their lyrics, not so much, at least in the early stuff. In many cases you could swap out "you" or "her" for "god" and it would mean the same. The song "Calling On You" from 1986's To Hell With The Devil you could mean mean god or a close friend or a lover. Similarly, "Honestly," from the same album, could be the same, is more a ballad anyway.
In the early-to-mid 90s they broke up, and their members went their separate ways. However, in 2003, they...resurrected. Lol. I had to go there. And their second coming has been going strong ever since, no major lineup changes--although the bassist did leave for five years and come back again--unlike Kiss' reunion. In fact, Second Coming is their second-to-current album. They may in fact be 'more' religious in their lyrics than they were; I'm only familiar with their first album since resurrecting, Reborn. I wouldn't call it a hair metal album, but more along the lines of what former hair metal bands did when the 80s and 90s "passed on."
Anyway, they are coming to Raleigh in October..and I wanna go! I haven't been to a concert since OzzFest '98.
Their members are Michael Sweet(guitar and lead vocals), Robert Sweet(drums), Oz Fox(lead guitar), and Tim Gaines(bass).
